The Scientific Agricultural Society of Finland

The Scientific Agricultural Society of Finland acts as a link between research scientists and other bodies utilizing scientific information within agriculture. The society was founded in 1909 and at present it has over 500 members. The Society is run by an executive council of 5 members.
The society organizes monthly meetings on relevant issues concerning plant and animal production, agricultural economics and technology, and horticulture. The society involves expert groups in all these areas to guarantee the high scientific level of the society functions. Foreign lecturers are often invited to the meetings.

The Society organizes biennually the Agricultural Sciences meeting. The two-day meeting gives a thorough picture of recent research in the area of agriculture and related sciences.The next meeting will be held in 2012. The language of the meeting is Finnish.

The Society publishes a peer-reviewed scientific journal "Agricultural and Food Science " jointly with MTT (Agrifood Research Finland).
